Tax Relief is Available for Natural Disasters

Los Angeles County Assessor, Jeff Prang, reminds property owners affected by recent severe storms in California that they may be eligible for property tax relief. Owners of damaged or destroyed properties can file a claim for Misfortune & Calamity relief within one year of the incident. If approved, the assessed value of the property will be reduced until it is repaired or rebuilt. The claim forms can be obtained online or by phone. The Assessor's Office will also proactively identify eligible properties for reassessment.
